The CW has picked up The Vampire Diaries to a full season. The series as pretty much been the only bright spot for the network, with last Thursday’s episode drawing a post-series high of 3.77 million viewers and a 1.8/5 A18-49 rating/share.

The CW has officially picked up three shows to series: The Beautiful Life, Melrose Place and Vampire Diaries. All three shows were rumored to be picked up for some time.
Meanwhile, the Gossip Girl spinoff is officially dead.
In cancellation news, The CW has axed two shows: dramedy Privileged and the comedy The Game.

Michael Rady (Swingtown) has become the first actor to board the new Melrose Place pilot for The CW. THR reports that the actor landed the job on Wednesday morning, a day after The CW officially greenlit the pilot for the update, which will be directed by David Guggenheim.
