Official Synopsis
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Green Lantern is scheduled for release in conventional and 3D theaters on June 17, 2011.

Green Lantern’s suit will be CG

Ryan Reynolds won’t be wearing a suit in Green Lantern. How is that possible you might ask? Well, /Film reports that Warner Brothers will mostly use CG to create the suit:

The suit that Ryan wears on set is a grey tracking motion/performance capture suit with led lights. I’ve heard that Ryan Reynolds has been joking on set that Warner Bros is going to make him into a Na’vi when the final cut is released. His joke, not mine. The Green Lantern suit you will see in the final film will be almost entirely created using computers.

My source within Warner Bros assures me that the suit will look cool. Don’t let the words “Computer generated” scare you.

More details after the jump.

Mark Strong In Negotiations To Play Sinestro in Green Lantern

Speaking with MTV, Green Lantern director Martin Campbell shot down rumors that Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) is in consideration for the role of Sinestro, and instead revealed that Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, Kick-Ass) is in negotiations for the part:

“No, that’s completely wrong,” said Campbell of the persistent rumor, which popped up again recently despite Haley denying any involvement with the “Green Lantern” movie. “In fact, we’re in negotiations with Mark Strong to play Sinestro.”

“He’s not only a wonderful actor, but he looks like Sinestro,” he added. “If you look up old pictures of Sinestro, he’s very like him. The Jackie Earle Haley thing, somebody told me about it this morning; I had never heard it before in my life.”

Campbell also talked about some of the characters that will appear in the film.  Head on over the jump for that.
