The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features Marvel’s upcoming comic book movie The Avengers and the issue includes three new promotional/production stills and character portraits for Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) Clint Barton / Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Natasha Ramanoff / Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bruce Banner / Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

Marvel has released three more concept art character posters for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. The latest character posters feature Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The Nick Fury poster also features the characters Maria Hill (Cobie Smoulders) and Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) in the background.
The studio also released a composite poster combining these three posters with the previously released four which you can enlarge above. Click over the jump to see the posters in full.
The Avengers is scheduled to hit theaters on May 4, 2012. The teaser trailer is expected to be released soon, but you can watch it in theaters now after the end credits of “Captain America: The First Avenger”.

Mark Ruffalo has confirmed to MTV that he will be the first actor to play the Hulk with motion capture:
“All the features are mine, just really big. I got to see the maquette of the Hulk yesterday in full scope, and it’s awesome.”
Ruffalo also complimented Joss Whedon’s work on the script, saying it’s in his “wheelhouse” and adding “It’s cool. It’s gonna be great…The script is a nice combination of funny with pathos.”

Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Mark Ruffalo is in “late-stage discussions” with Marvel to play The Incredible Hulk in The Avengers, replacing Edward Norton whom Marvel earlier this week opted not to re-sign.

Monica Bellucci has joined the cast of Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The actress will play Veronica, a sorceress and the long-lost love of Nicolas Cage’s character, Balthazar Blake. [Variety]
- Christopher Lloyd has joined the cast of Alex Aja’s Piranha 3D. The actor will star as Goodman, an expert on piranha. [Bloody-Disgusting]
- Ray Liotta, Mila Kunis and Mark Ruffalo are joining Tina Fey and Steven Carell on the 20th Century Fox comedy Date Night. The three will be among the characters Fey and Carell encounter as a couple on a date. [THR]
- Universal Picture is developing a modern retelling of the classic The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and they’ve tapped Keanu Reeves to star and Justin Haythe to pen the script. [THR]
- Meanwhile, there’s another ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ project in Hollywood, and this one’s quite different. Abel Ferrara is going for a contemporary take on the Robert Louis Stevenson original with a new film titled Jekyll and Hyde.
