Update: In an interview with ComingSoon.net, Tancharoen confirmed that New Line is rebooting the franchise and revealed it is being planned for a 2013 release.

Watch the first two episodes of Mortal Kombat: Legacy

The second episode of the online series Mortal Kombat: Legacy has been released. Watch it after the jump. I’ve also included the first episode if you haven’t seen that yet.

The 10-episode online series was directed by Kevin Tancharoen and stars Michael Jai White (Detective Jackson “Jax” Briggs), Jeri Ryan (Sonya Blade), Darren Shahlavi (Kano) and Tahmoh Penikett (Lieutenant Kurtis Stryker).

Mortal Kombat live-action online series officially announced

Warner Premiere has officially announced development of a live-action digital series based on the best-selling video game Mortal Kombat and its highly viewed and regarded digital short Mortal Kombat: Rebirth:

Warner Premiere today announced development of a live-action digital series based on the best-selling Mortal Kombat videogame franchise. Directed by Kevin Tancharoen, known for his popular unofficial fan short Mortal Kombat: Rebirth which garnered over 10 million views online, and in conjunction with the upcoming Mortal Kombat videogame, this action-packed, digital series will take gamers deep into the history of warriors they know and love such as Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Liu Kang. Shooting for the digital series will take place in Vancouver starting in early February.
