Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment have released an updated synopsis for Kenneth Branagh’s Thor.
Synopsis
Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Stuart Townsend has exited Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Thor. The actor reportedly was cut from the film over creative differences. He was cast as Fandral, an ally of Norse god Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his role has been recast with Joshua Dallas.

Production Weekly is reporting that filming on Kenneth Branagh’s Thor is scheduled to begin in LA mid-January, 2010. Filming will then move to Santa Fe, New Mexico in March till late-April.
Thor is scheduled to hit theaters on May 20, 2011.

Matthias Schweighöfer (Valkyrie) was interviewed in the German edition of Gentlemen’s Quarterly (GQ) where he revealed that he’s in line for a role in Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, but the bigger revelation was his mention that both Jude Law and Robert DeNiro have already joined the cast.
