Here’s our first look at Karl Urban as Judge Dredd in Dredd, the upcoming adaptation of the comic book. Dredd began filming last week in Cape Town, South Africa. It’s expected to be released in 3D in 2012. Click the image above to enlarge.
Lionsgate has announced that they have picked up the US distribution rights to Dredd, the new Judge Dredd movie starring Karl Urban.
As previously announced, Entertainment will handle the UK release.

Yesterday Bleeding Cool reported that Karl Urban (“Star Trek”, “Lord of the Rings”) was the front-runner to play the title role in the new Judge Dredd movie. A day later, IGN caught up with the actor at Comic-Con and Urban has confirmed that he is “in early talks” to take on the role.
Summit Entertainment has released two more character posters for the upcoming graphic novel adaptation RED. The new posters feature Karl Urban and Mary-Louise Parker. Check them out in full after the jump.
Red is the story of Frank Moses (Willis), a former black-ops CIA agent, who is now living a quiet life. That is until the day a hi-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his identity compromised and the life of the woman he cares for, Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker), endangered, Frank reassembles his old team (Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren) in a last ditch effort to survive. Also in the cast are Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfuss, Ernest Borgnine, Julian McMahon, James Remar and Rebecca Pidgeon.
RED is scheduled to hit theaters on October 15, 2010.

With the worldwide premiere in Australia, and the surprise premiere in Texas, out of the way, we can now expect the campaign for Star Trek to really get into high gear.
On that note, two new clips from the film have surfaced. The first comes from MTV and features the bar scene between James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Uhura (Zoe Saldana) featured in the trailers, and the other comes from Yahoo in a clip titled “Disease and Danger”, featuring the introduction of Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy (Karl Urban).
