ABC’s Modern Family won a total of five Emmys tonight, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Julie Bowen), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Ty Burrell), Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Steven Levitan, Jeffrey Richman) and Outstanding Comedy Series.
On the drama side, Mad Men won only one Emmy tonight (two total Emmys including one Creative Arts Emmy it won on 9/10), but it was for Outstanding Drama Series–the show’s fourth straight win in the category.
Boardwalk Empire led all programs with a total of eight awards (seven Creative Arts and one tonight for Martin Scorsese’s direction of the series pilot).
Other noteworthy wins included two for the fourth season of Friday Night Lights: Kyle Chandler for Outstanding Acting in a Drama series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (Jason Katims).

Peter Berg, who directed the movie Friday Night Lights and executive-produced the NBC series which concluded its fifth and final season this past Friday, reportedly wants to continue the franchise with another big screen movie.

With The Jay Leno Show now officially canceled, so too ends NBC’s 10PM experiment. The network is moving back to their regular 8-11PM Monday-Friday schedule. Here are the changes/additions (effective March 1, 2010):
- Monday: Law & Order is moving into the 10:00 p.m. timeslot following its previous move to Friday’s at 8:00.
- Tuesday: Parenthood will premiere on Tuesday, March 2nd at air Tuesday’s at 10:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: An encore episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will air Wednesday’s at 10:00 p.m.
- Thursday: Jerry Seinfeld’s new reality series The Marriage Ref will premiere Thursday, March 4th and air Thursday’s at 10:00 p.m. (although it will have a special sneak preview on Sunday, February 28th).
- Friday: Dateline NBC will expand to two hours on Friday’s (9:00-11:00) starting March 5th.
Additionally, NBC has set a Friday, April 30th premiere date for the fourth season of Friday Night Lights (which has been airing on DirecTV’s 101). The show will air Friday’s at 8:00 p.m.

Just came across this very interesting report over at Michael Ausiello’s EW page. Apparently, and despite declining ratings, NBC and DirecTV are close to renewing their partnership, announced last year, to keep Friday Night Lights on the air.
