HBO cancels Luck

HBO has announced that they have ceased all future production on the David Milch/Michael Mann Horse-racing drama Luck. Here’s the statement from HBO:

HBO renews Luck for a second season

HBO has renewed the drama LUCK for a second season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. LUCK has received overwhelming critical acclaim and the first episode has a gross audience of 3.3 million viewers to date. The pickup, which is for ten episodes, is slated to air in January 2013.

Teaser trailer for HBO’s Luck

HBO has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming horse racing drama Luck from Michael Mann (“Heat”) and David Milch (“Deadwood”). The series stars Dustin Hoffman, Nick Nolte and Dennis Farina. Watch the trailer after the jump.

Luck is scheduled to premiere in January 2012.

Dustin Hoffman cast in David Milch’s HBO series, Luck

Dustin Hoffman has been cast in David Milch’s new HBO series Luck.  Hoffman will topline the pojrect as a “a man in his late 60s just released from four years in prison who’s autodidactic, intelligent, and deeply involved in gambling.”  The series will also star Dennis Farina and John Ortiz.

DreamWorks Animation Unveils 2009-2012 Slate

shrek-052809DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg will unveil the studio’s film slate through late 2012 later today at an investment community conference.  The slate includes five original projects and several franchise follow-ups.  All the films will be produced in 3-D.  Also to be announced is the casting of Robert Downey Jr. and Tina Fey in Oobermind.

For 2010, the studio has set the afforementioned original project Oobermind (November 5, 2010), as well as How to Train Your Dragon (March 26, 2010).  The fourth installment in the Shrek franchise (now called Shrek Forever After) has also been set for a 2010 release (May 21, 2010).

Meanwhile on June 3, 2011 the studio has set the sequel Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom with both Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman confirmed to be returning.  Then on November 4, 2011 The Guardians, based on a not-yet-published book series from William Joyoce, will hit theaters.
