Paramount Pictures and New Regency have officially announced that they’ll be partnering for Darren Aronofksy’s biblican epic Noah. John Logan (“Gladiator”) will rewrite the script by Aronofsky and Ari Handel, with Aronofsky and Scott Franklin producing.

Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures is close to signing on to distribute Darren Aronofksy’s $100M Bible project Noah. 20th Century Fox was also bidding for the project, which Aronofsky wrote the script for. John Logan is currently re-writing the script.

20th Century Fox’s Black Swan just had its debut in Japan over the weekend and earned $6.1M. That pushes the $13M-budgeted film past $300M worldwide. The current estimates are $106.95M domestic / $197.9M foreign for $304.85M worldwide.

Darren Aronfksy has exited as director of 20th Century Fox’s The Wolverine. Aronofsky cited his unwillingness to be out of the country for such an extended period of time (up to 1 year). Fox and Aronfsky both confirmed the news, issuing the following statements from both parties:

Here are two new posters for two completely different films: a UK poster for the sci-fi comedy Paul and a US poster for the Darren Aronofsky-directed thriller Black Swan. Click over the jump to see the two posters in full.
Black Swan is scheduled to hit theaters on December 3, 2010, while Paul will hit theaters on March 18, 2011 (February 14, 2011 in the UK).

Deadline is reporting that Darren Aronofsky’s deal to direct X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 is close enough to being completed that 20th Century Fox has turned their attention to filming. The site reports that shooting will get underway this March in New York “so the filmmaker and Hugh Jackman don’t have to inconvenience their families.”

Deadline is reporting that Darren Aronofsky (“Black Swan”, “The Wrestler”) is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to direct the sequel to 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Darren Aronofsky’s psychological thriller Black Swan will open the 67th edition of The Venice Film Festival on September 1, 2010. The highly anticipated film stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis.
Aronofsky won a Golden Lion for The Wrestler in 2008 and The Fountain premiered there in 2006.
“We could not have asked for a better launch for Darren and ‘Black Swan’ than the Venice International Film Festival,” enthused Fox Searchlight presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley in a statement.
The festival runs from September 1 to September 11. In related news, USA Today has published an article on the film which includes a batch of new photos giving us our first official look at the film. Check them out after the jump.

Darren Aronofsky and Angelina Jolie are in talks to develop a big-screen adaptation of the 2008 Ron Rash novel Serena: A Novel, which would be a starring vehicle for Jolie and Aronofsky would direct. Chris Kyle (“K-19: The Widowmaker”) wrote the screenplay for the project.
