CNN has announced that they have canceled the 6PM series John King, USA, hosted by John King. The series will end at the end of June and be replaced, at least temporarily, by an expanded three-hour The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.

World-renowned chef, bestselling author and Emmy winning television personality Anthony Bourdain will join CNN as host of a new weekend program, creating a signature showcase for the network’s coverage of food and travel. The announcement was made by CNN Worldwide Executive Vice President and Managing Editor, Mark Whitaker.
“For more than a decade, Anthony Bourdain has been a trailblazer in educating Americans about different cuisines and cultures around the world, as well as an outspoken commentator on social trends ranging from the rise of celebrity chefs to the impact of fast food chains to the spread of vegetarianism and veganism.” said Whitaker. “Examining the world through the prism of Tony’s unique expertise and passions continues CNN’s long-standing commitment to international reporting and to promoting global understanding.”

CNN has canceled Eliot Spitzer’s In the Arena. Spitzer released the following statement after the cancellation:
“We engaged serious people in conversations about national and global issues in a way that was informative and challenging. I believe that we provided diverse and valuable perspectives during the show’s tenure.”
CNN also announced a new lineup for their primetime, including Anderson Cooper 360 shifting from 10PM to 8PM (Spitzer’s former time slot) and Erin Burnett’s new show airing in the 7PM time slot.

CNN president Ken Jautz has announced that Kathleen Parker has decided to exit the low-rated program Parker Spitzer. Jautz says the show will be relaunched on Monday night and retitled In the Arena. The show will feature a round table of panelists discussing the day’s events with Eliot Spitzer, who will remain on the show.
