Suits series premiere averages 4.64M viewers; Burn Notice returns up 20%

The new USA series Suits had a very successful debut Thursday night, averaging 4.636M viewers and a 1.6 A18-49 rating. USA notes that was up 20% in viewers, 47% in A18-49’s (2.0M) and 34% in A25-54 (2.1M) from last fall’s series premiere of “Fairly Legal”.

Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe premieres Sunday, April 17 on USA Network

Burn Notice: THE FALL OF SAM AXE, starring Bruce Campbell, will premiere Sunday, April 17 at 9/8c on USA Network. The prequel film to USA’s smash hit series takes place in Colombia 2005 when Lieutenant Commander Sam Axe (Campbell) is sent to advise a local military platoon. It’s there he discovers deep layers of deception and ultimately realizes he may be allied with the wrong side. Shot on location in Bogota, Colombia, the two hour movie is directed by Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan.

USA to air Burn Notice movie prequel starring Bruce Campbell; Jeffrey Donovan to direct

Jeffrey Donovan is set to direct the upcoming Burn Notice MOVIE starring Bruce Campbell. Shooting will begin in January on location in Bogota, Columbia. The two-hour movie will air on USA Network in Spring 2011.

The prequel, set in late 2005, begins after a faction of Colombian rebels makes trouble for the locally stationed military platoon, with Lieutenant Commander Sam Axe (Campbell) being sent down to advise. As the mission unfolds, Sam begins to uncover the dark secrets of the area, learning the truth about sacrifice, deception, and ultimately what’s worth fighting for.

USA Network sets January premiere for Facing Kate + New Episodes of Psych and Burn Notice in November & Royal Pains and White Collar in January

Approaching its fifth consecutive summer win, while pacing to take the third quarter, USA will continue airing the most exciting originals on television straight through 2010 and into the new year! With original programming blocks that feature all-new episodes of returning hit originals PSYCH, BURN NOTICE, ROYAL PAINS and WHITE COLLAR, USA keeps up the momentum with the premiere of its much anticipated newest original series, FACING KATE, starring Sarah Shahi (“Life,” “The L Word”), which joins the line-up in January.

USA’s hot roster of hit series gives viewers something to warm up to as the days get shorter and the nights grow colder. November sees the return of fan-favorite PSYCH on Wednesday, November 10, at 10/9c with brand new cases waiting to be solved as well as a special Shawn & Gus version of the holiday classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Wednesday, December 15, at 9/8c. BURN NOTICE follows with its premiere on Thursday, November 11, at 10/9c with the adventures of Miami’s hottest burned spy.

USA Network renews Burn Notice for two seasons

USA Network has renewed their hit drama series Burn Notice for seasons five and six, two months ahead of the fourth season launch this June.

“Once ‘Saturday Night Live’ makes fun of you,’ how can you not commit to extra seasons?” president of original programming Jeff Wachtel told Daily Variety.

Cable TV Ratings: Caprica Slide Continues; Spartacus Up Again + more

Bad news for Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica.  Week three of the series drew just 1.13 million viewers and a 0.4 A18-49 rating.  That was down a steep 20% from last week’s episode (1.41M viewers and a 0.5 A18-49 rating).  Caprica is down 29% from its series premiere (1.60 million viewers).

Also on Friday, the new Starz! series Spartacus: Blood and Sand increased in its third week to 858,000 viewers (+11%) and a 0.4 A18-49 rating (n/c).  The show is up 30% in viewers and 33% in A18-49 rating since its premiere (659,000 viewers and a 0.3 A18-49 rating).

Ratings for a few other cable shows on Friday night worth noting include Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network which drew 2.195 million viewers and a 0.5 A18-49 rating and Discovery’s Swamp Loggers which drew 1.49 million viewers and a 0.7 A18-49 rating.  More ratings highlights after the jump.

USA Tweaks January Schedule

USA is making a few changes to its January lineup. The network announced that White Collar will launch the second half of its first season on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 (moving from Friday night) while Burn Notice will resume its third season on Thursday, January 21st at 10:00 p.m. (same day and time).
