Sherlock season two premieres to 3.2M viewers on PBS

PBS announced today that “Sherlock” has a welcome home in the 21st century — Sunday night’s premiere of MASTERPIECE MYSTERY!’s second season averaged 3.2 million viewers, not including those viewing through station replays, DVRs or online streaming. (Nielsen Fast National data, 2.1 household rating.) The premiere of the second season of the BAFTA Award-winning series more than doubled the average PBS primetime rating (based on metered market averages). New episodes of “Sherlock” debut each Sunday night on MASTERPIECE through May 20.

First Set Photos from J.J. Abrams Star Trek sequel

The first photos from the set of J.J. Abrams’ follow-up to 2009’s Star Trek have surfaced on the internet. The photos feature Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura) as well as our first look at Benedict Cumberbatch (who play’s the film’s villain). Click over the jump to see more photos.

One of the shots also confirms that at least some scenes from the film will be shot with IMAX cameras:

The Untitled Star Trek Sequel is scheduled to hit conventional, 3D and IMAX theaters on May 17, 2013. Click over the jump to check out more photos.

Third season of Sherlock confirmed

Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat confirmed on Sunday that there will be a third season of the hit BBC original series:

Luke Evans joins The Hobbit + Benedict Cumberbatch to voice Smaug

Luke Evans has been cast as Bard in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. Meanwhile in other casting news, Benedict Cumberbatch, who is already in the project voicing the character Necromancer, will also voice voice and portray the dragon Smaug via motion capture.

Benedict Cumberbatch joins The Hobbit

Martin Freeman, who plays Bilbo in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit, revealed that his “Sherlock Holmes” co-star Benedict Cumberbatch will also star in the project. It’s unknown at the moment what role Cumberbatch will play in the two-part project.
