Return of MTV’s Beavis and Butt-Head averages 3.3M viewers

MTV’s all-new animated comedy block bowed to strong ratings Thursday night, with the return of the all-new Mike Judge’s “Beavis and Butt-Head” scoring a 2.6 P12-34 rating and 3.3 million total viewers at 10:00 p.m. Garnering a 3.4 M12-34 rating, the premiere performed incredibly well with males, who comprised over two-thirds of the audience. Ranking as MTV’s top series among M12-34, behind only megahit “Jersey Shore,” “Beavis and Butt-Head” doubled the network’s primetime average among M12-34, even while facing game six of the World Series. Following at 10:30 p.m., the premiere of new series “Good Vibes” retained over half of its lead-in, with a 1.4 P12-34 rating and 1.6 million total viewers, up from the network’s new series averages.

TCA 2011: MTV renews ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ and ‘Fantasy Factory’ + Premiere dates set for Beavis and Butt-Head and Good Vibes

MTV today announced during its presentation at the July 2011 Television Critics Association Press Tour, that its new animation block series “Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head” and “Good Vibes” will premiere on October 27,2011, at 10:00pm and 10:30pm ET/PT, respectively. In addition, the network announced that the pilot episode of new scripted comedy series, “I Just Want My Pants Back,” will air as a special sneak peek immediately following the 2011 Video Music Awards, on August 28 at 11:00pm ET/PT. The series will officially debut on MTV in early 2012. Also announced were the renewals of hit series “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew” for a seventh season and “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” for a fifth season.

Comic-Con 2011: First look at Beavis and Butt-head

After a 14 year hiatus, MTV is bringing back Beavis and Butt-head later this year. MTV premiered scenes from the upcoming season of the show at San Diego Comic-Con. Check out the sneak peek video after the jump. The original Beavis and Butt-head series ran from 1993-1997 and aired 200 episodes. The series also made it to the big-screen in 1996’s “Beavis and Butt-head Do America”.
