People is reporting that Jennifer Lopez is out of the running as an American Idol judge next season due in part to her “out of hand” demands:

The singer-actress had been closing a deal to be a permanent judge on the show for its upcoming 10th season but the deal fell apart.

With Ellen DeGeneres out, there’s a new report that singer/actress Jennifer Lopez will join the judges panel for the 10th season of American Idol. Deadline reports:

Ellen DeGeneres leaving American Idol

Ellen DeGeneres is leaving American Idol after one season as judge. Ellen joined the cast last season and signed a two-year deal.

In a statement, Ellen says she “let FOX and the AMERICAN IDOL producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” adding, “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.”

More from Ellen’s statement:

“It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on IDOL and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

FOX Moves Up Premiere of Kitchen Nightmares to January 26th

FOX is moving up the season premiere of the Gordon Ramsey series Kitchen Nightmares to Tuesday, January 26th at 9:00 p.m. after American Idol.  The show will air twice out of American Idol before moving to its normal timeslot: Friday’s at 9:00 p.m.

The special airings will also fill in the gap left by the departure of Our Little Genius which was pulled from the FOX schedule earlier this month.  Head on over the jump for the updated Kitchen Nightmares schedule.

Fox Boosting Fringe With House Lead-In + Other Schedule Changes

fringe-121909Fox is making a couple changes to its 2010 schedule.  First and foremost, on January 11, 2010 the network will air an original episode of Fringe following a new House.  The network is no doubt hoping to boost the ratings of the show, which has been struggling this season in its new Thursday time slot.
