AMC announces 16-episode order for The Walking Dead season 3

AMC announced today from the Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour in Pasadena, CA that the third season of “The Walking Dead” will consist of 16 episodes. Previous season orders were for 13 episodes. AMC’s international broadcast partner FOX International Channels (FIC) will follow the 16 episode order and structure a similar schedule worldwide. Season two of the critically acclaimed global hit series continues to deliver the strongest telecasts for any drama in basic cable history against Adults 18-49, as well as, top international pay-TV ratings on Fox International Channels’ (FIC) major markets. “The Walking Dead” is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. Glen Mazzara serves as series’ showrunner and executive producer. Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert and Frank Darabont are executive producers with Greg Nicotero as co-executive producer.

Hell on Wheels becomes AMC’s second highest-rated original series premiere with 4.4M viewers

AMC renews The Walking Dead for a third season

AMC announced today the renewal of “The Walking Dead” for a third season. Season two continues to deliver the strongest telecasts for any drama in basic cable history against Adults 18-49 shattering a basic cable record set nearly 10 years ago for a single drama telecast (“The Dead Zone”). “The Walking Dead” is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. Glen Mazzara serves as series’ showrunner. Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert and Frank Darabont are executive producers. Greg Nicotero is a co-executive producer.

AMC’s The Walking Dead season two premiere averages 7.3M viewers + Breaks basic cable records among key demos

Last night’s season two premiere of AMC’s original series, “The Walking Dead” delivered the strongest telecast for any drama in basic cable history. The season two premiere delivered 4.8 million Adults 18-49 and 4.2 million Adults 25-54 shattering a basic cable record set nearly 10 years ago for a single drama telecast. The program delivered a 4.8 HH rating netting 7.3 million total viewers. These results represent a 36% and 38% increase respectively over season one’s series average on AMC. Season one’s series average delivered the most A18-49 viewers for a drama in basic cable history.

AMC breaks records with season four finale of Breaking Bad

AMC premiered the season four finale of “Breaking Bad” to record rating results. Season four reigns as the series’ highest rated season to date, growing 24% over season three for Adults 18-49, the most for any drama series in basic cable history. [Sunday night’s] episode scored a 1.4 HH rating attracting 1.9 million viewers. Across the evening, all three airings (10pm, 11pm, 1am) delivered 2.9 million viewers and 1.8 million Adults 18-49. In August, AMC announced the final 16 episodes to conclude “Breaking Bad.”

63rd Primetime Emmy Awards Winners

ABC’s Modern Family won a total of five Emmys tonight, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Julie Bowen), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Ty Burrell), Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Steven Levitan, Jeffrey Richman) and Outstanding Comedy Series.

On the drama side, Mad Men won only one Emmy tonight (two total Emmys including one Creative Arts Emmy it won on 9/10), but it was for Outstanding Drama Series–the show’s fourth straight win in the category.

Boardwalk Empire led all programs with a total of eight awards (seven Creative Arts and one tonight for Martin Scorsese’s direction of the series pilot).

Other noteworthy wins included two for the fourth season of Friday Night Lights: Kyle Chandler for Outstanding Acting in a Drama series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (Jason Katims).

AMC extends Mad Men episode length by 2 minutes

Mad Men creator/executive producer Matthew Weiner has announced that AMC has extended the run time for upcoming episodes of the critically acclaimed series by 2 minutes; from 45 minutes to 47.05 minutes. AMC greenlights Kevin Smith’s Secret Stash

AMC announced today that the network has greenlit the unscripted television series Secret Stash executive produced by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, Chasing Amy), Charlie Corwin’s Original Media (LA Ink, Miami Ink, Storm Chasers and Swamp People) and Elyse Seiden (Red State). Set in Kevin Smith’s iconic comic shop Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash, the unscripted show captures the world of the neighborhood comic book store and fanboy culture. Season one is six, one-hour episodes and is currently scheduled for a 1Q 2012 launch. The series exemplifies AMC’s goal to be the definitive home for quality storytelling.

AMC’s The Walking Dead kicking off season 2 with 90-minute premiere on Sunday, October 16

AMC’s critically acclaimed original series, “The Walking Dead,” is back with its much anticipated second 13 episode season. Kicking-off a two week long Fearfest, the network, once again, presents viewers with a 90-minute premiere episode, airing at 9 PM ET on Sunday, October 16th, with six one-hour episodes in the weeks following. The final six episodes of the season commences on Sunday, February 12th at 9pm ET. The 90 minute version is also scheduled to be launched globally on all Fox International Channels, following the US premiere the week of October 17th-23rd. Season two reaches FOX audiences in 122 countries, speaking 35 languages and is seen by over 200 million households globally.
