Paramount Pictures and MTV Games today announced a new promotional partnership for Star Trek (May 8, 2009) with the popular video game Rock Band.
The promotion includes a giveaway of 500 free Rock Band Music Store downloads each day from April 7th through April 21st on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 and the grand prize is a chance to win your own personal screening of the film. Nintendo remained on top with the two best selling consoles. The two consoles combined to sell nearly 787,000 units.
This marks the 10th consecutive month in which the Wii (#1 – 403,600) and DS (#2 – 383,300) have held the top two spots on the chart, and the second in a row in which the Wii overtook the DS.

Another studio is joining the Xbox Live Video Marketplace. Fox has signed on to distribute several of their films and shows. Their participation will begin with the launching of Family Guy on the service.

Another month, another domination of the sales charts by Nintendo in the US. The companies two videogame systems (the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS) were the top 2 systems for the month of July in the US, with combined sales at 830,000.

Downloads on Microsoft’s Xbox Live service are up 400% since the company introduced downloading of television and movies in November of last year, making the site the second most popular behind Apple’s iTunes.
