TNT Sets Cable Records With NBA Playoffs

The NBA playoffs are playing well on the court and off, as news comes in that TNT has set cable records for their first-round NBA Playoff contest Thursday.  Nielsen estimates that the Chicago Bulls’ 128-127 triple overtime victory averaged 5.35 million viewers, easily cable’s top program for the night in most key categories.

The rating makes [...]

Trust Me Canceled by TNT

Just three days after its season finale, TNT has canceled its low-rated freshman drama Trust Me.

Although the cancellation will no doubt disappoint fans, it really shouldn’t come at much of a surprise.  The show’s series on January 26th managed just 3.40 million viewers (okay for other cable nets, but not so for TNT), before dropping [...]

TNT Orders New Pilot Called First and Last

TNT has ordered a new non-fiction pilot titled First and Last.  According to Broadcasting & Cable, the series would be an hour-long show split into two parts.  The first half-hour would feature the stories of the first time something happens in a person’s life, while the second half-hour would focus on what happens in the [...]

Nearly 5 Million Tune in for Leverage Premiere; 5.4 Million for ‘Librarian 3′ on TNT

TNT had a very successful weekend.  The third TV movie from The Librarian franchise, The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice got things started by drawing 5.44 million viewers on Sunday night from 8-10pm. That led into the series premiere of Leverage, which held steady from its lead-in and drew 4.99 million viewers from 10-11pm [...]

“The Closer” Spinoff in the Works at TNT

Given how common spinoffs have been as of late, the news that TNT is developing their own spinoff from The Closer isn’t all that surprising.  The Closer is cable’s #1 drama and has even attracted Emmy attention so you can hardly fault the network for trying to capitilize on that exposure.

The spinoff is being headed [...]
