NBC has announced that Jack Black and Jessica Alba will both be guest-starring on the hour-long post-Super Bowl episode of The Office on February 1, 2009.

NBC has announced their programming lineup for Super Bowl night, as well as what the network has in store later in the season. Super Bowl XLIII on February 1st will be followed by an hour-long original episode of The Office. The following evening, February 2nd, will see the returns of both Chuck (via a special 3-D episode) and Heroes (with the new volume titled “Fugitives”), as well as the 5th season premiere of Medium. Other returns include Life (February 4th) and Celebrity Apprentice (March 1). The network also announced that the original movie event XIII will air on February 8th and 15th, new drama Kings will premiere with a two-hour event on March 19th and the two-hour ER series finale will air on March 12th.

Get ready for more online content. NBC today announced that webisodes for The Office and Heroes would officially premiere on NBC.com starting this July. First up will be The Office in July. The webisodes will focus on Kevin’s gambling issues and how he plans to pay for his debts. The series will also feature Stanley, Oscar and Darryl. This is the second webisodes series for The Office (The Accountants premiered back in 2006).

NBC today announced that the network will use the post Super Bowl slot this season to launch a spinoff series to the the hit comedy The Office. Immediately following NBC Sports’ Super Bowl XLIII coverage, the network will first present an original episode of The Office, followed by the debut of the new spinoff comedy. In an unexpected deal, NBC Universal has put together a $100+ million package for the rerun rights to NBC’s two hit comedies: The Office and My Name Is Earl. TBS will get the cable rights, while 10 Fox O&O (owned and operated) stations will get the network rights in a shared-window deal.
