During Guillermo del Toro’s recent BD Live chat for the Hellboy II: The Golden Army Blu-ray disc, he was asked a few questions about the two Hobbit films and in one of them, he revealed that filming will begin in 2010 and they “will shoot for about 370 days or so…”

TheOneRing.net is reporting that writing on The Hobbit (December 2011) and its sequel (December 2012) has gotten underway. The Lord of the Rings team Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens will be joined by Guillermo del Toro to write the screenplays for both movies. It’s finally official. Variety is reporting that director Guillermo del Toro has been signed to helm both The Hobbit and its sequel. Once his current project–Hellboy II: The Golden Army–concludes, Del Toro will be moving to New Zealand for four years, where he will oversee production of the two films, alongside executive producer Peter Jackson. At the New York Comic Con, director Gullermo Del Toro said that an answer to his involvment in The Hobbit prequel films will soon be revealed. Del Toro says a definitive answer would be coming in the next four or five days.
