TBS Greenlights New Animated Comedy

tbslogo-041509TBS is entering the animated series realm for the first time, greenlighting the half-hour series Neighbors From Hell from 20th Century Fox TV.  TBS has ordered 10 episodes of the series, which it plans to pair with its off-net run of Family Guy.

The series comes from South Park alum Pam Brady and revolves around the Hellmans — an all-American suburban family that happens to hail from Hell, according to Variety.

Brady wrote the pilot and will exec produce with Mireille Soria and Jeffrey Katzenberg, who calls the show “a fish-out-of-water twist on the suburban comedy genre.”.  Here’s what Michael Wright, executive VP and head of programming for TBS, TNT and TCM, said about the addition of its first animated original series to its lineup:

“When you look at the TBS schedule, one of the things that performs well for us night in and night out is ‘Family Guy,'” Wright said. “Our strategy has always been to try to develop programming that’s compatible with what’s already there and working.”
