AMC announces 16-episode order for The Walking Dead season 3

AMC announced today from the Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour in Pasadena, CA that the third season of “The Walking Dead” will consist of 16 episodes. Previous season orders were for 13 episodes. AMC’s international broadcast partner FOX International Channels (FIC) will follow the 16 episode order and structure a similar schedule worldwide. Season two of the critically acclaimed global hit series continues to deliver the strongest telecasts for any drama in basic cable history against Adults 18-49, as well as, top international pay-TV ratings on Fox International Channels’ (FIC) major markets. “The Walking Dead” is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. Glen Mazzara serves as series’ showrunner and executive producer. Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert and Frank Darabont are executive producers with Greg Nicotero as co-executive producer.

TNT tips off the 2011-12 NBA season on Christmas Day with the Celtics @ Knicks

TNT will tip off the 2011-12 NBA season with a Christmas Day game featuring the Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks on Sunday, Dec. 25 at Noon (ET). A special hour-long edition of TNT NBA Tip-Off presented by AutoTrader.com precedes the season’s first game at 11 a.m. (ET). The show will feature studio host Ernie Johnson and analysts Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, along with the TNT debut of 15-time NBA All-Star and four-time NBA Champion Shaquille O’Neal previewing the day’s action. Following the pre-game show, the 2011-12 NBA season will get underway with Paul Pierce and the Celtics visiting Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks at Noon (ET) live from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Marv Albert (play-by-play) and Steve Kerr (analyst) will be courtside calling the action, with Craig Sager reporting.

Comedy Central sets 2012 midseason schedule

The weather may be getting chilly, but things are once again heating up at COMEDY CENTRAL! The network will premiere hot new series and specials as well as new seasons of network favorites throughout the cool months to come including: COMEDY CENTRAL’s “Indecision 2012” revs up with the return of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report” (January 3); the series premiere of the sketch comedy “Key & Peele” (January 31); brand-new seasons of network hits “Tosh.0” (season four premieres January 31) and “South Park” (season 16 premieres March 14); Russell Simmons and JB Smoove reunite for the stand-up series “Russell Simmons Presents The Ruckus” (January 26); Stand-Up Month returns in January and features stand-up premieres from Tom Papa, Kevin Hart, JB Smoove and John Mulaney, plus much more. Viewers are advised to stay indoors, hit the couch and turn to the all-comedy network for everything that’s to come this viewing season.

USA Network sets launch date for new original series Common Law + Returns of White Collar and Royal Pains

ABC’s Cougar Town to return in March

Notably absent from ABC’s midseason schedule released earlier today was the Courteney Cox comedy Cougar Town, but Deadline reports that the comedy will return with its third season in March. However, due to the late start, the upcoming season’s episode order has been cut down from 22 episodes to 15.

CBS announced mid-season premiere dates for the new comedy ¡ROB! and the return of the Emmy-nominated reality series Undercover Boss.

NBC unveils mid-season 2012 schedule

NBC […] announced its new mid-season 2012 schedule which features the premieres of four new series in “Smash” (February 6), “The Firm” (two-hour premiere January 8, time slot premiere January 12), “Fashion Star” (March 13) and “Are You There, Chelsea?” (January 11). The new lineup also includes the return of “The Voice,” “30 Rock,” “The Celebrity Apprentice” and “Who Do You Think You Are?”

In addition, there are day and time period changes for “Whitney,” “Up All Night,” “Rock Center with Brian Williams” and “Harry’s Law.”

CNN cancels Eliot Spitzer’s In the Arena + Announces new evening lineup

CNN has canceled Eliot Spitzer’s In the Arena. Spitzer released the following statement after the cancellation:

“We engaged serious people in conversations about national and global issues in a way that was informative and challenging. I believe that we provided diverse and valuable perspectives during the show’s tenure.”

CNN also announced a new lineup for their primetime, including Anderson Cooper 360 shifting from 10PM to 8PM (Spitzer’s former time slot) and Erin Burnett’s new show airing in the 7PM time slot.
