Paramount Pictures will no longer delay their new releases to Redbox by 28 days, reversing their recent agreement with the DVD rental chain and now allowing for DVDs to be rented the same day they go on sale.

Paramount Pictures has moved Mission: Impossible IV to December 16, 2011. The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters in May. Paramount also officially announced that the secretive J.J. Abrams-directed / Steven Spielberg-produced Super 8.
M:I IV will be directed by Brad Bird, who will be making his live-action directorial debut.

Paramount Pictures has released the first official photo from Kenneth Branagh’s Thor. The image shows star Chris Hemsworth as the title character. See it in full after the jump.

Deadline New York’s Mike Fleming has confirmed IESB‘s April 1st scoop (not the best of days to report on big news huh?) that Joss Whedon was on the short list to direct Marvel’s The Avengers, and that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Firefly creator is now in final negotiations to direct the film.
