He may be losing his late-night hour on NBC, but Jay Leno isn’t leaving the network. NBC today announced that The Tonight Show host Jay Leno will be moving into primetime with The Jay Leno Show. The five night a week series will begin fall 2009 and air from 10-11pm ET.

Jay Leno’s exit from The Tonight Show has been finalized. Leno’s last Tonight show will be Friday, May 29, 2009. Conan O’Brien, the announced new host of the talk show, will start the following Monday, June 1st, NBC executives told gathered press at the Television Critics Association.

Following the footsteps of NBC’s announcement of the return of their late-night lineup, ABC has announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live is returning with original episodes on Wednesday, January 2.

According to multiple sources close to Broadcasting & Cable, Jimmy Fallon (Saturday Night Live) may return to NBC to serve as the replacement for Conan O’Brien when he moves on to Jay Leno in 2009.

According to Broadcasting & Cable, ABC and Jimmy Kimmel are close to signing a multi-year extension which will keep Kimmel with the network (and the network in the late-night market) past the 2009 season.
