Ravens/Falcons NFL Thursday Night Football game is most-watched NFL Network opener

[Thursday night’s] Baltimore Ravens-Atlanta Falcons game on NFL Network was watched by an average of 5.0 million viewers (not including over-the-air stations in Baltimore and Atlanta) – topping last year’s opening night game (Bears-49ers) by 28 percent and ranking as the most-watched season opener in the five seasons of Thursday Night Football.

Sunday Night Football records best overnight rating for October NFL Primetime game in 12 years

Last night’s “Sunday Night Football” game generated the best overnight rating for an October NFL primetime game in 12 years, the third-best SNF overnight ever and was the No. 1 program on Sunday night for the seventh consecutive week as it registered an overnight rating up 54 percent vs. last year’s Week 7 game, according to overnight data released today by The Nielsen Company.

“Sunday Night Football,” featuring Vikings QB Brett Favre returning to Green Bay in a 28-24 loss, earned a 16.0 overnight rating and 25 share (from 8:30-11:30 p.m. ET).

The 16.0/25 overnight is the best for an October NFL primetime game since, coincidentally, Minnesota-Green Bay on 10/5/98 (17.5/26 on ABC).

Monday Night Football delivers its best ESPN opening night

The Baltimore Ravens’ 10-9 road victory over the New York Jets in the first prime-time game at the New Meadowlands Stadium (7 p.m. ET) earned a 10.9 rating, representing an average of 10,850,000 households (14,973,000 viewers – P2+), the second largest audience for any program on cable television in 2010. It is the highest rating of ESPN’s 10 MNF opening night games.

At 10:15 p.m., the Kansas City Chiefs’ 21-14 win over the San Diego Chargers received an 8.8 rating with an average of 8,803,000 households watching (11,889,000 viewers), the third-largest household audience for any program on cable television in 2010.

Vikings/Saints is most-watched NFL regular season primetime game in 14 years; 27.5M viewers

Last night’s ‘NFL Kickoff’ was the most-watched NFL regular season primetime game on any one network in 14 years. The Vikings-Saints NFL season opener on NBC Sports was also the most-watched ‘NFL Kickoff’ ever and the most-watched regular season primetime game ever on NBC, according to official national data released today by The Nielsen Company.

The rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game won by the Saints 14-9 in the Louisiana Superdome, was seen by 27.5 million viewers (8:42-11:25 p.m. ET) and reached several viewership milestones.

NFL Network Sets Ratings Record — 10.5M Viewers — With Saints/Cowboys Game

NFL Network set a record Saturday night with their Thursday Night Football telecast of the New Orleans Saints vs. Dallas Cowboys NFL game which saw the Cowboys snap the 13-game winning streak by the Saints. The game drew 10.5 million viewers, besting the 10.1 million who tuned in for the 2007 game between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers. NFL Network and CBS, NBC Partner for Giants/Patriots Matchup

Faith Hill To Perform SNF Opening Theme

Faith Hill has been selected by NBC to perform the opening theme for the networks NBC Sunday Night Football, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night”.

A special version of the song, “Waiting All Year for Opening Night” will air Thursday, September 9 with NBC’s first regular season Sunday Night Football broadcast of the year featuring the New York Giants at the Dallas Cowboys.
