TVGuide.com has learned that during a cake-cutting ceremony marking the 100th episode of ABC’s Desperate Housewives, series creator Marc Cherry announced his desire to have the show on the air for nine seasons, two more than he previously announced back in February of 2007 when Cherry inked a four-year deal with ABC Studios.

TNT has teamed up with Donnie Wahlberg and director/producer Jon Avnet to develop a new crime drama about a war hero turned Drug Enforcement officer set in Boston. Wahlberg is expected to star in the series, tentatively titled Morse Code. [Reuters]

ABC today announced that they’ve made pickup’s for nine shows for next season: Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Dirty Sexy Money, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Private Practice, Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who? and Ugly Betty.

Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) has signed a four-year deal with ABC Television to remain on board with the network through the 2011 season. That will take the series through 7 seasons.
