The Smurfs teaser trailer

Sony has released the teaser trailer for director Raja Gosnell’s currently in-production live-action / CG 3D adaptation The Smurfs. Check out the trailer after the jump.

The Smurfs is scheduled to hit conventional and 3D theaters on August 3, 2011.

The Green Hornet delayed again; Will be converted to 3D

Sony has announced a second delay for the Michel Gondry-directed / Seth Rogen-scripted The Green Hornet. The film will be pushed back three weeks from December 22, 2010 to January 14, 2011.

Sony says the reason for the delay has nothing to do with recent bad buzz, and instead is because after they decided to incorporate 3D in production, they wanted to move the film away from what has become a very crowded December:

Sony denies Logan Lerman will play Spider-Man

HitFix reported yesterday that ‘Percy Jackson’ star Logan Lerman was the top contender and a “almost 100% locked” to play Peter Parker Marc Webb’s Spider-Man, but Deadline New York’s Mike Fleming relays Sony’s “definitive” denial on the casting story:

…insiders at Sony say that the young actor is not getting the role. In fact, these sources were very definitive in denying the story, and were sure that Lerman was 100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered. for the new film that will be directed by (500) Days of Summer helmer Marc Webb…

New trailers: Salt, Iron Man 2: The IMAX Experience, The A-Team (+ new poster) & Knight & Day and Step Up 3D

Several new trailers have been released this morning, they include trailer #2 for both Salt (7/23/2010) and The A-Team (6/11/2010) as well as the trailer for Iron Man 2: The IMAX Experience (May 7, 2010).  I’ve also included a new poster for The A-Team and trailers for Knight & Day (6/25/2010) and Step Up 3D (8/6/2010) which were released over the last few days. Release Schedule: Wall Street 2 pushed to September; Chipmunks 3D set for December 2012; Buried releasing this September + more

A couple release date changes/additions to catch up on including Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (delayed), Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D (set for December 2011), Buried (set for this September) 21 Jump Street (delayed) and Smurfs (pushed back five days into August 2011).

Four added to Smurfs voice cast

A few days ago Neil Patrick Harris was cast as the main live-action character in Sony’s upcoming live-action/animated hybrid 3D film The Smurfs and now Variety reports four actors: Jonathan Winters; George Lopez; Katy Perry and Alan Cumming, are all in various stages of talks to lend their voices to the project.

The Karate Kid Movie Trailer No. 2

Sony Pictures has released a second movie trailer for the upcoming remake The Karate Kid which stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.  Head on over the jump to watch the new trailer.

The Karate Kid hits theaters on June 11, 2010.
