A couple release date changes/additions to catch up on including Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (delayed), Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D (set for December 2011), Buried (set for this September) 21 Jump Street (delayed) and Smurfs (pushed back five days into August 2011).

A few days ago Neil Patrick Harris was cast as the main live-action character in Sony’s upcoming live-action/animated hybrid 3D film The Smurfs and now Variety reports four actors: Jonathan Winters; George Lopez; Katy Perry and Alan Cumming, are all in various stages of talks to lend their voices to the project.

Sony Pictures has released a second movie trailer for the upcoming remake The Karate Kid which stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. Head on over the jump to watch the new trailer.

Sony/Columbia have set an August 5, 2011 release date for the adaptation of the 80’s TV series 21 Jump Street. The film stars Jonah Hill in the starring role.

Columbia Pictures has hired British writer Steven Knight to adapt the screenplay for The Lost Symbol, the third film in the Da Vinci Code franchise.
Knight’s recent work includes writing the screenplays for the upcoming films Shutter Island and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
