Disney Content Joining Hulu

Hulu and the Walt Disney Company have announced that Disney has agreed to join NBC Universal, News Corporation and Providence Equity Partners as a joint venture partner and equity owner of the popular online video service Hulu.

According to the press release, which you can read in full after the jump, here is the new content that will be made available on Hulu:

  • Full-length episodes of ABC primetime programs like Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Samantha Who?, Scrubs, Private Practice and popular late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live
  • Full-length episodes of hit ABC Family series like The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Greek
  • Popular series from ABC Daytime and SOAPnet like General Hospital and The View
  • Classic series from ABC’s library like Hope and Faith, Less Than Perfect, Commander in Chief, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Dancing with the Stars
  • Select hit programs from Disney Channel like Wizards of Waverly Place and Phineas and Ferb which can be easily accessed from a new DISNEY location in the Channel section of
  • Popular library titles from The Walt Disney Studios
  • Short-form content including webisodes, sneak peeks and episode recaps from ABC Entertainment, ABC Family and SOAPnet

ABC Family Gets Five 2009 Disney Films

ABC Family has won the TV rights for two upcoming high-profile Disney films: Jerry Bruckheimer’s G-Force and Robert Zemeckis’ A Christmas Carol.  The titles are part of a five-film deal that also includes Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Bedtime Stories and Race to Witch Mountain.

ABC Family Renews Greek and Lincoln Heights; Orders Three New Series and Cancels Kyle XY

abcfamily-020209ABC Family today announced the renewal of two of their shows, Greek (for 20 episodes) and Lincoln Heights (for 10 episodes).  Both shows are scheduled to return with new episodes this summer.

The network also announced that three of their pilots have each received 10-episode orders.  They are:

“Perfect 10,” a One-Hour Scripted Drama Starring Peri Gilpin (“Frasier”), Making Her Return to Series Television

“10 Things I Hate About You,” with Director Gil Junger, Executive Producer and Writer Carter Covington, and Starring Ethan Peck (Grandson of Gregory Peck), Lindsey Shaw (“Aliens in America”), Meaghan Jette Martin (“Camp Rock”) and Larry Miller (Reprising His Film Role)

“Ruby and The Rockits,” Starring Alexa Vega (“Spy Kids”), David Cassidy and Patrick Cassidy, and Executive-Produced by Shaun Cassidy

Kyle XY, meanwhile, has gotten the axe.

ABC Family Sets Returns for “Greek” and “Lincoln Heights”, Renews ‘American Teenager’

ABC Family has announced the return of two of their shows: Greek and Lincoln Heights.  First up is sophomore series Greek, which returns on Tuesday, August 26th at 9pm ET/PT.  Lincoln Heights then premieres its third season on Tuesday, September 16th at 8pm.
