Bert, Ernie, Elmo Big Bird and the rest of the Sesame Street gang are headed to the big screen again. Heat Vision | THR is reporting that 20th Century Fox has picked up the movie rights to the children’s television show with series writer Joey Mazzarino on board to write the screenplay. Shawn Levy, Michael Aguilar, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady are producing.
This would be the third time the series reaches the big screen, having been previously adapted in 1985 (“Follow That Bird”) and 1999 (“The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland”).
