Earlier this week “Kick-Ass” illustrator let slip that a sequel was in the works, and now Heat Vision | THR has confirmed the news, reporting that Universal Pictures planning to distribute Kick-Ass 2 with filming eyed for September confirming . Matthew Vaughn, who co-wrote and directed the 2010 film based on the Mark Millar-John Romita Jr. comic book series, is returning to produce the sequel and has set Jeff Wadlow to direct. Heat Vision adds the project, which was written by Vaughn, adapts both Kick-Ass 2 and the spinoff Hit-Girl which hits stores next month:
The Hit-Girl storyline will be the first act of the movie, according to sources.
The original cast, including Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl) and Christohper Mintz-Plase (Red Mist) are all expected to return for the sequel.
