14.8M watch Kentucky Derby on NBC

NBC Sports’ coverage of Saturday’s Kentucky Derby drew 14.8 million viewers, the third most-watched Kentucky Derby in 23 years, and up two percent from last year’s Derby according to official national data provided today by The Nielsen Company. The household rating of 9.0/20 is up six percent from last year’s race. Since implementing NBC Sports’ ‘Big Event Strategy,’ the last four Kentucky Derby races have all recorded at least 14.5 million viewers.

Sherlock season two premieres to 3.2M viewers on PBS

PBS announced today that “Sherlock” has a welcome home in the 21st century — Sunday night’s premiere of MASTERPIECE MYSTERY!’s second season averaged 3.2 million viewers, not including those viewing through station replays, DVRs or online streaming. (Nielsen Fast National data, 2.1 household rating.) The premiere of the second season of the BAFTA Award-winning series more than doubled the average PBS primetime rating (based on metered market averages). New episodes of “Sherlock” debut each Sunday night on MASTERPIECE through May 20.

Lifetime renews Client List for a second season

Lifetime has renewed its hit scripted series The Client List, starring and executive produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt, for a second season to premiere next year with 15 all-new episodes, it was announced today by Nancy Dubuc, President and General Manager of Lifetime Networks.

Regarding the announcement, Dubuc said, “The Client List represents everything we want to be — fresh, exciting and original with attitude. We love Jennifer and this series, and are equally thrilled that they have connected with our audience, especially as we express our new brand, ‘Your Life. Your Time.’”

Hewitt added, “I couldn’t be happier about Lifetime’s decision to renew The Client List for a second season. It has been so much fun working with such a great cast and crew on the wonderful stories we tell, and I’m ready to see where The Client List takes all of us next year.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in action thriller Ten

Open Road Films has announced that they’ve acquired U.S. distribution rights to the David Ayer-directed action thriller Ten starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Here’s the synopsis:

In Ten, an elite DEA task force deals with the world’s deadliest drug cartels. Specializing in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. What looks to be a typical raid turns out to be an elaborate theft operation, pre-planned by the DEA squad. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one.

Prometheus R-rating confirmed

20th Century Fox has confirmed that Ridley Scott’s Prometheus will be rated R for “sci-fi violence  including some intense images, and brief language”.
