Earlier this week it was reported that Harrison Ford was in talks to join the cast of the Blade Runner project that is currently in production. Production partners denied the report and now director Ridley Scott has responded to those rumors, telling EW that the project — which hasn’t been designated to be a sequel or a prequel — is still too early along to talk specifics:
EW: Did you hear about the rumors online that you were supposedly in talks with Harrison Ford to be in it?
Scott: No. Don’t know yet. Don’t know yet.
EW: But you wouldn’t rule it out?
Scott: Absolutely not. But I’m not sure that that’s going to be a story point, so I don’t know. But if it were, nothing would please me more. Honestly.
EW: But it sounds like you don’t even know yet if there would be a Rick Deckard character?
Scott: No. I don’t know.
In other news, Scott also hinted at the possibility of a “Prometheus 2″:
Scott: I just thought Prometheus was so enjoyable — returning to the world of science fiction was so fun — that I wanted to [go back to Blade Runner, too]. I’m also thinking about what the hell I might do for a Prometheus 2.
EW: Do you think there will be one?
Scott: [Knocks the wood coffee table and grins]
Prometheus is scheduled to hit theaters on June 8, 2012.
