It’s turning out to be a big week in terms of movie release dates / changes. Warner Brothers has announced that Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi film Pacific Rim will be pushed up two months from from its former July 12, 2013 release date to May 10, 2013.
Admittedly, it’s an odd decision given how crowded May 2013 already is. The month currently features several high profile projects including “Iron Man” 3 (5/3), “Fast & Furious 6” (5/24) and the recently re-positioned “Lone Ranger” (5/31).
In related box office date news, The Weinstein Company has pushed back My Week with Marilyn from November 4, 2011 to November 23. The studio’s Piranha 3DD was originally set for that date but will now be pushed into 2012. The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes has also lost its original date (January 27, 2012) and will be released sometime in 2012.
