Mad Men creator/executive producer Matthew Weiner has announced that AMC has extended the run time for upcoming episodes of the critically acclaimed series by 2 minutes; from 45 minutes to 47.05 minutes. The 45-minute figure was the one agreed upon by both parties earlier this year during a contract dispute.
That original agreement called for the first and last episodes of the fifth season of Mad Men to run 45 minutes, with the remaining episodes to run 47 (the previous standard). This would allow AMC to more commercial time and the extended episodes would be made available online.
Season five of Mad Men is expected to premiere next March.
