Frank Darabont is stepping down as showrunner of AMC’s hit zombie series The Walking Dead. The news was originally reported by the live feed | THR, but was picked up on by other sites, including Deadline which reported that the reason Darabont stepped down was because as someone who came from the film world, he “never quite adjusted to the daily grind of producing a TV series.”
AMC has set executive producer Glen Mazzara as new showrunner of the series. It’s unknown at the moment whether Darabont will stay on board in some other capacity.
The Walking Dead premieres its second season on October 16, 2011.
