Harry Potter franchise hits $7B in worldwide box office + Warner Brothers crosses $1B in domestic box office

The first week box office of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 has brought the combined box office for the eight films in the Harry Potter franchise to more than $7B. Here are the totals for the seven other films in the franchise:

  • “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” – $974.8M

  • “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” – $879.0M

  • “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” – $796.7M

  • “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” – $896.9M

  • “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” – $939.9M

  • “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” – $934.4M

  • “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” – $955.4M

‘Deathly Hallows – Part 2’ could be the first film in the franchise to reach $1B worldwide. The franchise also clipped “Star Wars” to become the top-grossing franchise of all-time on the domestic front ($2.223B for the eight ‘Harry Potter’ movies versus $2.218B for the six “Star Wars” movies).

In other news, Warner Brothers announced that they have reached $1B in domestic box office for the 11th straight year.
