As expected, Marvel/Paramount’s Thor held on to the top spot this Friday with an estimated $9.1M en route to an estimated $30-33M for the weekend. Universal’s R-rated comedy Bridesmaids, however, also did strong business. The female comedy grossed a better than expected $7.835M on Friday and looks headed for a solid $20-22M for the weekend. Thor‘s domestic cume through Friday stands at an estimated $93.852M (estimated $292.267M worldwide)
The other new release, Priest, debuted in fourth place with an estimated $5.6M on Friday en route to an estimated $14-15M for the weekend. That’s actually slightly better than what Sony was shooting for. Rounding out the top five were Fast Five in third ($5.879M / $155.125M cume) and Something Borrowed in fifth place with an estimated $2.3M ($20.947M cume).
