Elizabeth Banks has been officially confirmed to be playing Effie Trinket in Gary Ross’ adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games. Banks joins Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in the Lionsgate-backed trilogy.
Paula Malcolmson, Willow Shields, Amandla Stenberg, Dayo Okeniyi, Leven Rambin, Jack Quaid, Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott also star.
The Hunger Games is scheduled to hit theaters on March 23, 2012.
