Ben Affleck pulls out of The Great Gatsby + Isla Fisher in talks to play Myrtle

Ben Affleck had been in negotiations to play Tom Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s 3D update of The Great Gatsby, but Deadline reports that Affleck had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts involving his commitment to directing Argo, which is about the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

In other casting news, Heat Vision | THR is reporting that Isla Fisher is in talks to play Myrtle, who in the classic F. Scott Fitzgerald story is Tom Buchanan’s mistress.

The Great Gatsby is slated for release next year and has Leonardo DiCaprio attached to play Jay Gatsby, Tobey Maguire playing Nick Carraway and Carey Mulligan playing Gatsby’s love, Daisy Buchanan.
