In an interview with The Christian Post, Walden Media co-founder and president Michael Flaherty revealed that if another ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ movie gets made, the next film would be based on “The Magicians Nephew”, the sixth book in the seven-book series:
“We are starting to talk to Fox and talk to the C.S. Lewis estate now about the Magician’s Nephew being our next film,” Flaherty said. “If we can all agree to move forward, then what we would do is find someone to write the script. So, it could still be a couple of years.”
Although not nearly as successful as ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ ($745.0M worldwide), and finishing slightly below ‘Prince Caspian’ ($419.7M), the $403.9M worldwide cume of ‘The Voyage of the Dawn Treader’ marked a positive improvement for the franchise due to a significantly smaller budget ($155M vs. $225M for ‘Prince Caspian’ and $180M for the original).
