Mike White no longer attached to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Deadline is reporting that Mike White is no longer attached to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for Lionsgate. White reportedly had a preexisting commitment at HBO and they couldn’t get their schedules to work out:

“I loved the project and looked forward to working with Lionsgate. Unfortunately, the timing could not be worked out. I wish them the best with the movie.”

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel of the same name — and will be directed from a screenplay written by Grahame-Smith. White is second director to depart the project following David O. Russell’s exit last November. Here’s the statement from White:

“I loved the project and looked forward to working with Lionsgate. Unfortunately, the timing could not be worked out. I wish them the best with the movie.”

Lionsgate has already started looking for a new director.
