Lionsgate has announced that the Jason Momoa-starring/Marcus Nispel-directed action film Conan 3D will hit theaters on August 19, 2011. The film also stars Stephen Lang, Ron Peralman, Rose McGowan and Rachel Nichols.
Competition on that date includes “Fright Night” and “Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World”. All three films will be released in 3D.
In other release date news, Sony has set a March 16, 2012 release date for the big-screen adaptation of 21 Jump Street, which is based on the 1987-1991 TV that starred Johnny Depp. The remake stars Jonah Hill and an offer has reportedly gone out to Emma Stone for the female lead.
The only other film currently slated for release on the same date is Contraband, which itself is a remake, although of the 2008 Icelandic film “Reykjavik-Rotterdam” from director Óskar Jónasson. Contraband will star Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale.
