The 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards winners

A couple of highlights from tonight’s 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards:

  • HBO took home a total (from tonight and from the Creative Emmys) of 25 Emmys, followed by ABC with 18, FOX with 11, CBS with 10 and NBC with eight.
  • The two big awards of the night went to AMC’s Mad Men for Best Drama and ABC’s Modern Family for Best Comedy.
  • HBO’s The Pacific had the most Emmys of any program (eight), followed by HBO’s Temple Grandin (seven), ABC’s Modern Family (seven), and Disney Prep & Landing (ABC), Glee (FOX) and Mad Men (AMC) each with 4.
  • Lead Actor in a comedy went to Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory — CBS); Lead Actor in a drama went to Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad — AMC).
  • Lead Actress in a comedy went to Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie — Showtime); Lead Actress in a drama went to Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer — TNT).

ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES
62nd PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences tonight (Sunday, August 29, 2010) awarded the 2009-2010 Primetime Emmys for programs and individual achievements on the “62nd Primetime Emmy  Awards”  originating  on  the NBC  Television Network  from  the Nokia Theatre  L.A.  Live  in  Los  Angeles.  The  Academy’s  Chairman  &  CEO  John  Shaffner participated  in  the  awards  ceremony.   Don  Mischer  was  Executive Producer  of  the telecast.

In addition to Emmys in 26 categories announced tonight, Emmys in 74 other categories and areas for programs and individual achievements were presented at the Creative Arts Awards on August 21, 2010 from the Nokia Theatre.  The awards were tabulated by the independent accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP.

The  primetime  awards  announced  on  tonight’s  telecast  were  distributed  as  follows:
