Production wrapped on Green Lantern; Writer hired for Green Lantern 2

DC Comics writer/Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns tweeted over the weekend that production on Green Lantern has wrapped:

“GREEN LANTERN IS WRAPPED!!!! Finished the last shot today!!! Celebrating in New Orleans. :) As co-producer of the film, I am very, very proud of what we’ve got in store. Much more to come. Martin Campbell FTW.”

Production on the Martin Campbell-directed feature ran for 100 days: beginning on February 26, 2010 and running through Friday, August 6, 2010.

In related news, Warner Brothers continues to show major confidence in the property, hiring Michael Goldenberg (“Where the Wild Things Are”, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”) to write the screenplay for the sequel. This of course comes just a few months after the studio hired Green Lantern screenwriters Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim to write a treatment for Green Lantern 2.

Green Latern is scheduled to hit conventional and 3D theaters on June 17, 2011.

  • Green Lantern is gonna be one helluva show. Ryan Reynolds is a good actor, and playing Hal Jordan is one way to show off his skills. Looking forward to this! Favorite superhero!
