Tom Cruise to take pay cut for Mission: Impossible IV

Vulture is reporting that Tom Cruise has agreed to take a significant up-front pay cut to appear in Brad Bird’s Mission: Impossible 4. ¬†According to the site, Cruise signed a deal that will pay him more depending on the profitability of the film:

According to members of the Cruise camp, Cruise is not receiving “scale” but a substantially reduced upfront payment relative to his previous outings with the M:I films]. He will “get a nice back-end after cash break-even,” according to one insider familiar with the situation.

The article also points out that Paramount has secured as much as half of the film’s reported $135 million budget through a co-financing deal.

Mission: Impossible IV is scheduled to be released on December 11, 2011.
