Jack Bender to direct Moscow, the next Jack Ryan film

Vulture reports that Jack Bender (“LOST”) is in final negotiations to direct the next Jack Ryan film currently titled Moscow. The project will star Chris Pine (Star Trek) as the title character:

“…[I]n which a fresh-from-the-Marines Jack Ryan goes to work as an analyst for a Russian billionaire, but winds up on the run after being implicated in a terrorist plot.”

The project would be the fifth in the character’s film franchise, which began with 1990’s “The Hunt for Red October”. Here are the domestic box office totals for the franchise (year and Jack Ryan actor in parenthesis):

  • “The Sum of All Fears” (2002 / Ben Affleck) — $118.907M
  • “Patriot Games” (1992 / Harrison Ford) — $83.352M
