TCA Press Tour 2010: The CW head Dawn Ostroff says TV ratings not important

The CW, on average, gets horrible ratings. There are exceptions, with shows like The Vampire Diaries and America’s Next Top Model attracting a respectable audience, but on the whole the network just doesn’t see much Ratings traffic.

At a TCA panel, network head Dawn Ostroff said the network doesn’t concentrate on ratings anymore, insisting their audience watches their programming through other means:

“Our viewers are the first to migrate to other platforms,” Ostroff said. “Every year that goes by, more and more are going to DVRs and streaming. There needs to be a way to measure them.

“The days of waking up and looking at the overnight ratings are over, especially for the younger demo,” she added.
