After three unsuccessful attempts, Marvel today announced they’re developing a new Punisher movie, this time under the Marvel Studios banner. The announcement was made during Marvel’s Comic-Con panel today by company head Kevin Feige:
Feige says that the character is under the welcoming roof of Marvel Studios now and they want to take their own shot at it. Specifically he said he’s hoping for a “Frank Castle” movie shortly, using the real name for Punisher’s vigilante character.
The most recent film, 2008′s Punisher: War Zone flopped at the box office, grossing just $8.05M domestically and only $10.1M worldwide from a $35M budget.
