Bleeding Cool is reporting that Marc Forster’s adaptation of Max Brooks’ book World War Z is moving forward with producer Brad Pitt in the lead role. Paramount Pictures is reportedly eying a summer 2012 release date for the film.
It’s about time we had some more news on the World War Z movie. The last we heard, in late April, Paramount had refreshed their option on Max Brooks’ book, Marc Forster was still attached to direct, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B were producing. Okay – but what’s next?
Paramount have now pencilled in a schedule for the film, and are eyeing a 2012 release date sometime in the Summer. It’s going to be a big film for them, and it will need a big film’s release date. Such summer tentpoles tend to come with big stars, too, but luckily, producer Brad Pitt has one of the biggest readily available: himself.
We knew Pitt could see the quality in this material the second that Plan B became involved. By being prepared to now leap in with both feet like this and become, essentially, the public face of the film, I’d imagine he’d have to be very pleased with how development is coming along.
