Tim Burton confirmed as director for Monsterpocalypse

/Film spoke with producer Roy Lee and was able to confirm that Tim Burton is attached to develop and direct Disney/Dreamworks’ big screen adaptation of the Monsterpocalypse. As previously reported, John August was tapped to write the script and the site reports that he is currently in the process of writing the script with input from the game’s director Matt Wilson. Here’s an excerpt from /Film’s article:

The plot involves giant monsters who attack earth. After the humans fight back, the monsters retreat, but it is quickly discovered that they didn’t leave, but instead burrowed underground and are sending some sort of signal into space. The humans prepare for a possible future attach and developed giant robots that will fight the monsters if and when they return.

The film is being developed for 3D and could hit theaters by the end of 2012. Click over to the site to read their interview with Roy Lee.
