Playing in just 1,206 theaters, Disney’s nature film Oceans opened in first place on Earth Day yesterday, grossing a solid $2.466 million. That’s a healthy $2,045 per theater average. The film has already opened in several markets overseas where it has grossed more than $54 million. Second place went to How to Train Your Dragon ($1.223M / $162.996M cume) which managed to pass up the under-performing Kick-Ass which took third place ($1.19M / $25.366M cume).
Rounding out the top five were Date Night ($1.039 / $52.872M cume) and Death at a Funeral ($927,504 / $20.449M cume). Click over the jump for the daily chart.
